Julie Briggs is the Principal Solicitor of the firm, bringing extensive legal expertise and a strong commercial background to her practice. She has been practising law since 2006 and holds an Honours Bachelor of Laws from the University of New England and a Master of Laws (Legal Practice) from the Australian National University. Complementing her legal qualifications, Julie has earned a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Charles Sturt University, as well as a Bachelor of Business from the RCAE. She is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Julie’s legal practice covers a diverse range of areas including the arts and creative industries, contracts, employment, environment and water law, government relations, migration, and small business. Her considerable experience extends beyond the legal field into commercial and business settings, enhancing her ability to provide practical and informed advice. Additionally, she has an extensive background advocating on behalf of local government, where she has been involved in reviewing and providing commentary on state and federal legislation and policy. Over the past decade, Julie has supported clients seeking to establish themselves in Australia, assisting skilled migrants, families, and students in navigating pathways to residency. Her enduring passion for the arts is reflected in her academic involvement as a lecturer in Creative Industries at Charles Sturt University and leadership roles within various arts organisations. She currently chairs Regional Arts NSW and contributes her expertise to the Riverina Theatre Company, Eastern Riverina Arts, and Regional Arts Australia. This experience allows her to effectively advise artists and arts organisations on legal matters such as performance contracts, intellectual property rights, agency agreements, and exhibition arrangements. Julie’s comprehensive understanding of contractual matters enables her to assist with the preparation, review, and resolution of contract disputes. In the employment sphere, she provides counsel on employment contracts, general employment advice, and unfair dismissal claims. Her experience with environmental and water legislation supports clients in matters involving water allocations and planning objections. Within government relations, Julie offers services related to the appraisal of legislation and policy, government contracts, procurement, advocacy, and lobbying. In migration law, she provides assistance across skilled, partner, family, and business migration categories. For small business clients, Julie offers guidance on contracts, business sales, franchise agreements, and lease arrangements, ensuring that her clients’ commercial interests are well protected. Julie’s broad legal knowledge, combined with her business insight and community involvement, enables her to deliver well-rounded advice tailored to the needs of her diverse client base.
