About Robert
Robert Burns, the Principal and Director of Burns Law, established the firm in 1993, building a solid reputation on Brisbane's southside for delivering robust, practical legal advice. With a commitment to protecting clients' legal rights, Robert embodies passionate advocacy, extending his dedication to all lawyers and facets of the practice. His philosophy is rooted in delivering city-quality legal services with the accessibility and competitiveness of a semi-suburban firm. Robert's journey began after gaining practical experience in various roles, leading to his admission as a solicitor in Queensland in 1992. Recognising a need for a new kind of progressive law firm in South Brisbane, he founded Robert Burns & Associates. His goal was to provide personalised client service comparable to larger firms but in a more relaxed and cost-effective manner. Robert is dedicated to the law and client service, enjoying life outside of work as a saxophonist, SKA band member, and four-wheel drive enthusiast. His practice spans multiple legal disciplines, including litigation and commercial law. He focuses on serious criminal offences such as sexual offences and major drug matters. Throughout his career, Robert has managed a diverse array of cases, from minor offences to high-profile, complex cases, notably successfully defending clients in one of Australia's largest amphetamine production cases. He takes pride in maintaining a nearly 100% success rate in criminal matters where he has been retained. Robert holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland, the Australian Capital Territory, and the High Court of Australia. Additionally, he is a Barrister of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory and a member of the Queensland Law Society.
