Peter Carter

Peter Carter serves as the Legal Practice Director at Carter Capner Law, where he has been instrumental in establishing the firm as a thriving enterprise for over two decades. He holds degrees in BA. LLB (Hons) and BCL and is distinguished as a Queensland Law Society accredited specialist. Peter has a deep expertise in commercial and litigious legal practice with particular interests in Aviation Law, Tourism & Travel Law, and Compensation Law. His extensive experience provides him with valuable insight into the legal and commercial needs of business professionals. A leader in the legal community, Peter was a founding National Councillor, and served as both the inaugural Queensland President and National President of the Australian Lawyers Alliance (ALA). His commitment to the profession is further demonstrated through his involvement with the Queensland Law Society, where he contributed to the Specialist Accreditation Board in 1998-1999. His dedication to civil justice was evident during his tenure as a director of the Civil Justice Foundation of Australia. Peter is actively engaged in the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand, having served as both National Councillor and Queensland Chair. His passion for aviation is also reflected in his membership of the Lawyer-Pilot Bar Association and his own qualifications as a private pilot with a command instrument rating. In addition to his legal practice, Peter is a prolific writer and speaker. His publication, Bust: Queensland's post-GFC property collapse as played out in the courtroom, was released in 2012. He also authors the Take the law… on-line blog, where he has shared over 500 legal case summaries since 2010, showcasing his dedication to legal education and discourse.
