Susan Hamilton-Green

Susan Hamilton-Green is the Director and founder of Creative Family Law Solutions, where she offers a deeply empathetic and practical approach to family dispute resolution. With admission as a solicitor in 1984, Susan’s extensive career in family law has encompassed work with city firms covering a broad spectrum of family law matters. Over time, she developed strong negotiation skills and a keen interest in innovative yet pragmatic dispute resolution techniques. In 1990, Susan attained accreditation in mediation from The Law Institute of Victoria and commenced her mediation practice in 1992 through an internship at Relationships Australia. She further enhanced her expertise by completing a Graduate Diploma in Judicial Administration and Alternative Dispute Resolution in 1994, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Family Mediation in 2008. As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner accredited under the National Mediator Accreditation Scheme, Susan combines formal qualifications with extensive practical experience. Since founding Creative Family Law Solutions in 2005, Susan has focused on delivering personalised, collaborative solutions designed to empower families to navigate challenging circumstances and reach tailored outcomes that align with their objectives. Her work is informed by her own early experiences with family separation, contributing to her compassionate and respectful approach. In addition to her professional practice, Susan is an educator, mentor, trained arbitrator, and conflict coach who is passionate about supporting clients through difficult transitions. Beyond her legal work, Susan has a strong interest in storytelling across various mediums, including music, drama and literature. She is currently expanding her knowledge through studies in neuroscience, motivational interviewing and conflict resolution, aiming to further understand how individuals and organisations can effectively manage and resolve conflict. Susan also enjoys pursuing languages such as French and Scottish Gaelic, underscoring her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.
