About Gavin
Gavin Lai brings over two decades of experience in family law, having worked with leading Brisbane firms throughout his career. He is skilled in handling complex parenting and financial matters, including international family law issues such as those governed by the Hague Convention. Gavin also assists clients in drafting financial agreements and advises on cases involving business and trust restructuring. Known for his commitment to resolving disputes outside of court, Gavin prioritises alternative dispute resolution methods to achieve amicable solutions, resorting to litigation only when necessary. His practical approach and empathetic manner have earned him a strong reputation and client trust, often leading to referrals. Gavin holds qualifications as a Solicitor admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia, and he is a qualified Justice of the Peace. He has completed a Graduate Diploma of Professional Legal Education and Training from the University of Queensland and a Legal Practice Management Course through the College of Law. An active contributor to the legal community, Gavin volunteers at the Caxton Legal Centre, participates in mentoring programs at both the University of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology, and contributes to the Queensland Law Society’s publication, Proctor.
