Matilda Jones

Matilda joined Geelong Lawyers in 2021 and was admitted to legal practice in early 2022. She brings valuable experience from her previous roles at the Barwon Community Legal Service and the Prison Legal Education and Assistance Project (PLEA Project), where she managed programs supporting vulnerable prisoners throughout Victorian correctional facilities. In this capacity, Matilda provided vital education and assistance to help clients understand and navigate the complexities of the justice system. Matilda is dedicated to promoting social justice and ensuring her clients are fully informed of their rights. She regularly appears in the Magistrates’ Court, Children’s Court, and County Court, representing both children and adults on a range of matters including summary and serious indictable offences such as family violence, complex dishonesty, and theft. She also has considerable experience with Family Violence Intervention Orders and Personal Safety Intervention Orders. Known for her empathy and fairness, Matilda advocates vigorously on behalf of her clients, striving to give them a confident and clear voice during what is often a difficult and stressful time for them and their families.
