About Brian
Brian Hamer is a seasoned legal professional with over five decades of dedicated service as a solicitor following his admission to the Supreme Court of NSW in 1970. His primary focus lies in deceased estates, estate planning, elder law, and commercial leasing. Brian holds both Arts and Law degrees from Sydney University and a Master of Laws obtained in 1980. As the founder of a practice in Balgowlah in 1974, he has established strong ties with the local community through his active participation in the Balgowlah Lions Club and Rotary. His commitment to public service is further evidenced by his eight-year tenure as a councillor on the former Manly Council, including a term as Mayor in 1994-95. Brian’s dedication extends beyond professional obligations, as seen in his over 30-year volunteer service at the Manly Legal Advice Service. As a consultant solicitor, he plays a vital role in our firm’s deceased estate practice, providing sound legal advice with compassion and efficiency. He skilfully guides clients through the processes of obtaining grants of probate and estate administration, offering practical solutions to ensure disputes are resolved effectively. In estate planning, Brian advises on the preparation of essential documents such as wills, powers of attorney, and enduring guardianship, always with respect and responsiveness to clients' needs. His enduring commitment to the community and his extensive legal expertise make him a trusted advisor to long-standing and new clients alike. Outside of his professional life, Brian cherishes time with his wife Gai, family, and grandchildren while enjoying gardening, kayaking, and the scenic beauty of the Northern Beaches.
