Rowland Hassall brings over four decades of legal expertise with a focus on building disputes and construction law, family law, debt recovery, and commercial and general litigation. Renowned for his problem-solving capabilities, Rowland has made significant contributions to building law reform. He served as Chairperson of the Appeals Committee of the Housing Guarantee Fund Limited from 1988 to 1995, during which he adjudicated over 400 domestic building dispute cases. His role involved crafting and delivering detailed decisions in cases related to builder complaints, insurance appeals, and builder registrations. This experience transitioned into an advisory role with the Housing Industry Association, where he became actively involved, eventually chairing the Legal Subcommittee of HIA (Victoria) from 1999 to 2001. Rowland maintains his engagement with HIA, continuing to influence the industry. Since July 2023, he has been a part-time Consultant at Hassall’s Litigation Services, specialising in domestic building matters and litigation strategy.
