Joel Marshall

Joel Marshall, Principal at Hitch Advisory, heads the firm's Franchising team with a keen focus on Competition and Consumer Law, Dispute Resolution, and Franchising & Retail. With a career that commenced in New Zealand, Joel brings extensive experience to his role, particularly in facilitating businesses with their international expansion and providing strategic business advice. His journey began as a Commercial Property Investment Assistant at KPI Rothschild Property Group Ltd in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he honed his skills over nine years. Joel then transitioned to legal practice as an Associate Solicitor with Leverage Group - Solicitors & Academy in Sydney, working there for nearly five years before joining Hitch Advisory. Climbing the ranks, he became a Senior Associate before being appointed Principal in December 2020. Joel’s educational foundation includes a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce in Economics from the University of Otago. His adeptness in both legal and economic spheres equips him with a unique perspective on complex legal matters. In his leisure time, Joel enjoys surfing, fishing, and exploring the great outdoors, embodying a passion for adventure both in and out of the legal field.
