Sam holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy) from the University of Adelaide. He has practised exclusively in Family Law since 2010. Sam started out as a commercial litigation lawyer at a mid-tier firm. There, he honed his commercial nous and sensitivity to cost-effectiveness often overlooked in Family Law. He then worked in ‘blue chip’ Family Law firms in Perth dealing with Family Law matters in the aftermath of the 2008 Global Financial Crisis. This exposure gave Sam a deep understanding of how Family Law intersects with specialty areas such as inheritances (received before and after separation), intra-family loans, small businesses, family trusts and farming enterprises. Sam then managed the Family Law division of a mid-sized Adelaide firm for over 10 years. Sam also prides himself on finding practical solutions to parenting and custody disputes. He appreciates that parenting arrangements will kick on long after lawyers are out of the picture. They therefore must work when the legal letters and Court hearings have stopped. This often means putting strategic plans and safeguards in place to both now and in the future.
