Oliver Jones is a Partner at IP Partnership, having joined the firm in 2021 as a Senior Associate with over 13 years of expertise in commercial and business law. Oliver's legal journey began on the Gold Coast, where he excelled as a commercial solicitor. His academic foundation was laid at Bond University Law School, where he graduated with honours and was recognised for his outstanding performance in his Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, finishing first in his class. Before embarking on his legal career, Oliver pursued studies in political science and history at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada, earning his undergraduate degree with first-class honours. Throughout his distinguished career, Oliver has appeared in all Queensland courts, collaborating with businesses of varying sizes across Queensland, New South Wales, and other Australian jurisdictions. His legal interests are diverse, encompassing start-ups and ecommerce, business and employer-sponsored migration, franchising, structuring, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property law, PPSA compliance, insolvency on both corporate and personal levels, and employment law. Beyond his legal practice, Oliver is passionate about scuba diving, basketball, ice hockey, and poker, and he enjoys immersing himself in history, particularly ancient and colonial periods.
