Darren Mahony

Darren Mahony is the Principal Solicitor at Jacobson Mahony Lawyers and brings a wealth of experience and dedication to his legal practice. Residing on the Gold Coast with his family, Darren has strong roots in Queensland, having grown up in Toowoomba and excelling academically at St Joseph’s College. He earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland, where he was actively involved in sports and served as the Editor of the law publication, Obiter. After completing his articles at Flower and Hart, Queensland's oldest law firm, Darren discovered a profound commitment to criminal law and advocacy. He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 1994, marking the beginning of an illustrious career in complex criminal and quasi-criminal law. His expertise spans major cases involving murder, white-collar crime, and corruption, as well as prosecutions by bodies such as ASIC and the Office of Fair Trading. Darren is also a recognised authority on Shaken Baby Syndrome and Munchausen’s Disorder, contributing significantly to child safety matters. He has played vital roles in Sports Law investigations, including those conducted by ASADA, reflecting his versatile legal proficiency. Collaborating with Jason Jacobson, Darren continues to deliver successful outcomes for clients, demonstrating exceptional dedication and skill in his legal practice.
