Joanne Scott, the Principal at our firm, has been an integral part since its foundation in 2000. Holding a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Economics with a focus on Business Finance and Economics from Macquarie University, Joanne has dedicated nearly three decades to practicing in property and commercial law, insurance law, and estate planning. Her expertise is evident in her adept commercial drafting and her extensive experience in defence and recoveries litigation, handling cases from consumer claims tribunals to the High Court of Australia. Joanne's approach is characterised by being concise, forward-thinking, and proactive, ensuring a collaborative handling of all matters. Her practice is underpinned by a steadfast commitment to integrity and professionalism. In her role as Managing Partner at JTA Law, she has led a diligent team of professionals and administrative staff for 19 years, offering customised services to a diverse clientele, including insurance and commercial sectors, as well as individual clients. Her notable positions over the years have included Managing Partner, Partner, and Senior Associate, showcasing her growth and leadership within the firm. Prior to joining JTA Law, Joanne was a Solicitor in the Insurance Division at Tress Cocks & Maddox, further honing her skills in insurance defence litigation and recovery, public liability, and professional indemnity. Joanne's educational background is complemented by a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from The College of Law Australia and a Graduate qualification from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Her comprehensive experience and dedication make her an invaluable asset to both her clients and her colleagues.
