Gretel Wathen is an Associate who has been practising since her admission in 2021. Passionate about construction law, Gretel provides practical legal advice and representation in matters such as defect claims, contractual disputes, and regulatory compliance. She has also established a strong practice in strata law, advising owners corporations and strata managers on a variety of disputes and governance issues affecting strata schemes. Gretel has hands-on experience representing clients in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal, District Court, and NSW Supreme Court. She is well-versed in guiding clients through alternative dispute resolution processes, including mediation, and is committed to ensuring her clients are informed and supported at every stage. Her work includes advising clients on relevant legislative frameworks like the Home Building Act 1989, the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020, and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999 (NSW). Gretel also manages adjudications for owners and builders, prepares applications for expedited arbitration, and drafts settlement deeds.
