

Karl Brandon brings nearly two decades of extensive experience in criminal law to his role as a Consultant at Laneway Legal. After completing his law degree from the University of Melbourne in 1996, Karl was admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria in 1997. His early career included a significant tenure as a Senior Taxation Consultant with Ernst & Young, followed by a pivotal role as Associate to his Honour Judge Joe Gallaci. In 2002, Karl embarked on his career as a barrister at the Victorian Bar, where he honed his advocacy skills over eight years. During this time, he represented hundreds of clients in various courts, including the Magistrates, County, and Supreme Court. His practice encompassed serious and intricate cases such as drug trafficking, money laundering, fraud, confiscation proceedings, intentionally causing serious injury, and sexual offences. Karl adeptly handled both jury trials and sentencing hearings, garnering a reputation as a dedicated advocate. Seeking new challenges, Karl relocated to the Gold Coast in 2010 and swiftly established his own firm, expanding his practice to include criminal and employment law. His expertise led him to join Slater & Gordon's criminal and regulatory practice in 2016. A year later, he was appointed as National Practice Group Leader, responsible for overseeing a diverse team of lawyers and staff nationwide. Over the last decade, Karl has continued to represent clients in Queensland across various court jurisdictions, maintaining his commitment to providing fearless representation within the justice system. His move to Laneway Legal as a Consultant is bolstered by his comprehensive knowledge and seasoned experience in the legal field.
