

Kathryn Emeny serves as Principal at Maddens Lawyers, leveraging over a decade of extensive experience within the firm. Since joining in 2010, Kathryn has been a dedicated member of the Class Actions Department, playing a pivotal role in securing substantial compensation for clients affected by significant bushfires in Victoria and New South Wales. Her notable contributions include spearheading major class actions related to the 2009 Black Saturday Bushfires, the 2013 Springwood/Winmalee Bushfire, and the 2014 Mickleham/Kilmore Bushfire. Kathryn is an alumna of Deakin University, where she excelled in both her Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degrees, studying at the Warrnambool campus. As part of the university's inaugural law cohort in Warrnambool, she distinguished herself by being named Most Outstanding Student for two consecutive years and achieving the year's highest scores in Property Law and Criminal Procedure. Recognised as an Alfred Deakin scholar, her academic successes laid the foundation for her legal career. Her progression at Maddens Lawyers saw her becoming a partner on 1 April 2018. Beyond her legal practice, Kathryn actively contributes to the community as the President of Southern Stay, a leading disability service organisation in Southwest Victoria. Her commitment to both her clients and her community underscores her dedication and passion for her work.
