Ben Schefe

Ben Schefe is a Partner and a distinguished litigation and employment lawyer known for his sharp commercial acumen. Admitted to practice since 2009, Ben has navigated a multitude of complex legal disputes involving contracts, shareholder and director conflicts, insolvency, bankruptcy issues, estate litigation, and employment law claims. His clientele ranges from individuals and small-to-medium enterprises to larger corporate entities, all benefiting from his strategic insight, practical advice, and responsive communication. Over the years, Ben has cultivated a reputation for his ability to deliver efficient and effective legal solutions. His legal journey includes his current role at McCarthy Durie Lawyers in Brisbane, where he has been a Director since March 2016. Prior to this, he served as a Senior Associate at Smith Leonard Fahey Lawyers, focusing on commercial litigation, debt recovery, building and construction matters, and spearheading the growth of their employment law practice. Before that, Ben was an Associate at Michael Sing Lawyers on the Gold Coast, engaging deeply in client relationships and marketing initiatives such as seminars and articles on employment law topics. His earlier experience includes roles at Bell Legal Group and Clayton Utz, where he honed his skills in employment and commercial litigation. Academically, Ben holds a Bachelor of Laws from Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Employment Law from Curtin University.
