

Richard McDonald, Director Principal Solicitor at McDonald Law, has been practising law for over 23 years. With expertise in Criminal, Traffic Law, Wills and Estates, and Family Law, Richard established McDonald Law in 2022. His career commenced as a Police Prosecutor in 2004, followed by his admission as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of NSW. Richard's extensive courtroom experience spans all levels of the legal system. He has advised high-ranking officials within the NSW Police Force, including the Commissioner, and played a key role in the Prosecutor Education Program, training new prosecutors. His legal consultancy extended to specialist commands such as the State Crime Command, Professional Standards Command, and others tackling organised crime and cybercrime. Richard's deep knowledge of criminal law is evident as he adeptly assists clients navigating the criminal justice system. He is proficient in handling cases involving assault, sexual offences, domestic violence, apprehended violence orders, traffic and driving offences, fraud, property offences, and organised crime, among others. His legislative advisory work includes contributions to amendments in the Bail Act 2013, Mental Health Act 2007, and more. In addition to his legal qualifications, Richard holds a Graduate Certificate of Global Business Practice from Macquarie University and is pursuing a Master of Applied Law with a focus on Family Law and Wills and Estates.
