

Richard Kent serves as the Director and a seasoned lawyer leading our Litigation Department. With extensive experience across Victorian Courts, the Federal Court, and VCAT, Richard specialises in areas such as commercial and property litigation, wills and estates disputes, and banking and finance matters. His practice is characterised by a personal and practical approach, taking the time to identify key issues and explore client options to formulate the best legal strategies. Richard's legal career has been anchored at Mackinnon Jacobs since 1999. Recognised for his expertise, he was appointed as a Partner in 2006, now leading the Dispute Resolution and Litigation practice group. His work encompasses resolving commercial disputes, managing property and land interest matters, navigating purchase and sale land disputes, and addressing claims against professional advisers. Additionally, Richard's proficiency extends to banking and finance, particularly in consumer credit law and enforcement of securities. Richard also handles wills and estate litigation and has a robust record in appeals to higher courts. His leadership roles include serving as Deputy Chairman and Director at Bendigo Community Bank in Ferntree Gully and Rowville. A Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Deakin University, Richard was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2001. A member of the Law Institute of Victoria, he continues to contribute to community service as President of the Rotary Club Boronia.
