Michael Spearman

Michael Spearman, the Principal Lawyer at Resolute Legal, brings a wealth of varied experience to his practice, having traversed a multitude of industries before embarking on a legal career. Hailing from Tully, North Queensland, Michael initially immersed himself in the hospitality sector, managing operations in both Australia and the UK. His dynamic career path also led him to the mining industry in Western Australia as a shot-firer and later to agribusiness, where he owned and ran a banana and cane farm in North Queensland. Deciding to pivot towards the legal profession, Michael pursued a dual Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Laws degree at James Cook University, a decision that took him to the courtrooms of the Supreme Court of Queensland upon his admission in March 2011. His legal journey commenced with roles at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service (ATSILS) in Cairns, providing him valuable experience in criminal defence and advocacy. In 2012, Michael returned to Townsville, joining Emanate Legal where he honed his skills in commercial litigation, agribusiness, and wills and estates. Following further tenure at ATSILS, Michael's entrepreneurial spirit shone through with the establishment of Resolute Legal in October 2015. Under his leadership, the firm has become a trusted ally for clients facing challenges in criminal law, family law, and wills and estate matters, offering steadfast support in times of need.
