Paul Ryan

Paul Ryan is the principal and founder of Ryan Commercial Lawyers, known for his extensive expertise in liquor licensing law. Prior to establishing his own firm, Paul was a Partner at Corrs Chambers Westgarth where he led the National Practice Group for Property and Infrastructure and chaired the National Liquor Group. Throughout his career, Paul has adeptly represented a diverse array of clients including major hotel groups, hoteliers, brewers, resort operators, and supermarkets, among others. His proficiency encompasses applications for new licences, licence variations, and the sales and purchases of both licensed and unlicensed premises. Paul is highly regarded for his advisory work on compliance and disciplinary issues related to Liquor Licensing, Gaming, and associated legislation. He currently serves as Chair of the Law Institute of Victoria's Liquor, Gaming and Hospitality Law Committee. Additionally, Paul is skilled in handling matters involving both commercial and residential property, contractual issues, retail and commercial leasing, and wills and estate planning. He also possesses significant insights into town planning and sports law, operating as an AFL Players' Association Accredited Agent. Beyond his legal practice, Paul managed the George Public Bar in St. Kilda for 14 years, offering him a unique and practical perspective that enhances his advisory capabilities. His commitment to community service is evident through his role as President of St Kilda Cricket Club at the Junction Oval and his past leadership of the St Kilda Sacred Heart Mission’s Mission Possible Committee, supporting disadvantaged community members. Paul's educational background includes a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University, completed in 1985.
