Dan Ryan serves as the Managing Director of Serica Legal & Advisory, bringing over two decades of expertise in commercial and technology law across Asia, with a particular focus on Greater China. His career began with prestigious international law firms such as Baker & McKenzie and Freshfields, where he honed his skills in corporate, intellectual property, and technology groups. Dan's extensive experience includes advising companies on structuring and negotiating deals with Chinese and Asian clients. He has also held general counsel positions in the finance, technology, and commodities sectors for various companies, underpinning his robust understanding of diverse legal landscapes. His tenure in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Hong Kong, as well as his high proficiency in Mandarin, underscores his deep connection to the region. Dan has also contributed strategically as a board member of the Australia-China Council, advising the Australian Government on key commercial and strategic issues related to China. He is a founder and director of Xitu Capital and a charter member of TechGC, a community for Chief Legal Officers in the tech industry, where he shares best practices and supports peers. Dan is a graduate with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Asian Studies (Mandarin Chinese) from The Australian National University and holds a graduate qualification from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
