Colin Cunio

Colin Cunio is the Principal Solicitor at Strata Specialist Lawyers, a firm he established in 2016 with the aim of delivering practical and cost-effective solutions within the realm of strata and community title law. With admission to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia, Colin brings over two decades of legal expertise to his clients, encompassing a wide spectrum of litigation and advisory services. Colin's career began in the field of litigation, representing insurance companies, which laid the foundation for his skills as a vigorous litigator. His journey took him to the United Kingdom, where he engaged with civil proceeds of crime legislation, before returning to Sydney. Here, he assumed leadership in litigation divisions, showcasing his ability to manage complex legal matters and supervise junior lawyers. Between 2010 and 2016, Colin refined his focus on property law while practising alongside David Le Page, a revered figure in strata law. His experience extends across advising owners corporations, developers, and property owners, handling disputes, conducting building defect litigation, and negotiating construction contracts. Colin has been involved in significant cases, some of which include The Owners – Strata Plan 78102 v The Owners – Strata Plan 78101 & ORS and Stolfa v Hempton, demonstrating his role in shaping legal precedents. His legal acumen is further supported by his membership in professional bodies such as the Australian College of Community Association Lawyers and the Law Society of New South Wales. An alumnus of the University of Technology Sydney, Colin holds both a Bachelor of Laws and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
