Michael West

Michael West joined the firm in 1992, bringing with him extensive experience gained from his roles at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the leading law firm Allens. His work at Allens involved advising a diverse range of clients in the media and technology sectors, providing him with a strong foundation in these dynamic industries. Michael’s legal expertise covers a broad spectrum of commercial law matters. He has advised on commercial contracts including supply agreements, distribution arrangements, franchise agreements, and employment contracts, with particular attention to unfair dismissal claims. His experience extends to intellectual property rights, corporate law, and the establishment of websites, reflecting the evolving nature of technology and online business. He is also well-versed in telecommunications, privacy law, trade practices, and competition law disputes. Beyond his practice, Michael has contributed to legal education through lecturing at Macquarie University and for Legal Accounting and Management Seminars Pty Limited. His knowledge also encompasses defamation, administrative law, compliance, and finance, enabling him to provide comprehensive legal advice across these areas.
