Sophia Margaret Anderssen

Sophia Margaret Anderssen serves as Co-director and Principal Lawyer at Terry Anderssen Lawyers. With a career spanning more than a decade, Sophia combines a wealth of legal expertise with her compassionate approach, making clients feel heard and supported throughout their legal journey. A finalist in the 2025 and 2024 Women in Law Awards, she is known for her dedication and exceptional contributions to the legal profession. Sophia has extensive experience in family law, wills, and estates, providing tailored advice and empathetic support to her clients. Her personal experiences navigating the family law courts offer her unique insights, allowing her to empathise deeply with her clients, and she consistently achieves favourable outcomes, particularly in recovery order applications in interim hearings. Her commitment extends beyond her legal practice to her community involvement as a former Director and Non-Executive Director of the Welcome Dinner Project. She has volunteered in migrant shelters in Mexico and has provided training on domestic violence prevention both in Mexico and Australia. Sophia's qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from Griffith University, a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from Bond University, and a Graduate Certificate in Gender Mainstreaming, Policy & Analysis from Flinders University. She is admitted to practice as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. She is also a member of the Queensland Law Society and the North Brisbane Lawyer’s Association. Her legal career at Terry Anderssen Lawyers began as a Solicitor, progressing to her current role as a Partner. Her background also includes roles as a Marketing Manager, Law Clerk, and Legal Secretary. In her personal life, Sophia enjoys DIY projects, art, and spending quality time with her family. Her passion for learning Spanish and her diverse interests outside work reflect her dynamic personality.
