Barry Thornton

Barry Thornton is the Legal Practice Director of Thornton Legal, a position he has held since founding the firm in 2009. With a remarkable legal journey that began in Brisbane and continued on the Gold Coast, Barry boasts over 16 years of experience at Price & Roobottom, where he served as the Commercial Law Partner for 11 years before assuming the role of Managing Partner. Growing up in Brisbane’s Southside, Barry graduated from QUT with degrees in Business and Law. He relocated to the Gold Coast in 1992, where he and his family have fully embraced the local lifestyle. Barry's career initially focused on litigation, as well as wills and estates, yet his current focus is advising business and property development clients. He finds the most rewarding part of his practice is providing clients with peace of mind and ensuring certainty in their legal matters when faced with uncertainty or challenges. Beyond his professional life, Barry is an occasional golfer and an enthusiastic sports spectator. He relishes the chance to read and take peaceful walks along the beach whenever possible. His extensive experience and commitment to his clients embody the values of Thornton Legal, fostering a practice built on trust and clarity.
