Emilia's educational background is formidable, featuring a Bachelor of Law, Bachelor of Arts, and a Graduate Diploma in Labour Relations Law from the University of Melbourne. Additionally, she has completed a Graduate Diploma in Management at the prestigious Melbourne Business School, equipping her with a comprehensive understanding of both legal and business landscapes. Her illustrious career commenced within a large insurance company, followed by a prominent role in a law firm where she represented major corporations and government entities. Emilia's tenure as a senior legal counsel at the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) was marked by her leadership of a 17-member legal team, where she played a pivotal role in navigating complex legal challenges. Utilising her extensive experience and insider understanding of the TAC and worker's compensation frameworks, Emilia shifted her focus to advocating for individuals, providing strong and knowledgeable representation. Her journey saw her rise to partner at a leading Victorian compensation law practice in 2014, and subsequently, she achieved the position of principal lawyer at Australia's largest personal injury firm until November 2018.
