Mervat Sayed is the Principal Solicitor and Founder of Vanguard Lawyers, based in Sydney, New South Wales. With her unique blend of legal and community development expertise, she brings a client-focused approach to her practice. Mervat holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Social Science in Peace and Development Studies, and she is admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales. Her legal career spans a variety of practice areas including commercial and property matters, family law, wills and estates, criminal law, and litigation. Mervat's experience is characterised by her ability to provide clear, strategic solutions tailored to fit each client's needs, whether that involves launching new ventures, future planning, or navigating complex situations. Her earlier roles include working as a clerk at McCulloch & Buggy focusing on insurance litigation, and as a paralegal at Sterling Legal where she gained extensive experience in family, civil, and criminal law. Mervat's leadership roles extend beyond law practice, having served as President of the Western Sydney Law Students’ Association and Director at AusRelief Limited. Mervat's educational qualifications are complemented by her commitment to community welfare and advocacy. She has received a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, and she is furthering her expertise with a Master of Laws.
