

James Tan serves as the Director at Vocare Law, bringing a wealth of expertise in litigation and not-for-profit governance, including work with charities and schools. With a robust background in trial advocacy, James adeptly advises clients on complex legal matters such as breaches of director and fiduciary duties, governance failures, and a wide range of disputes including contractual, retail and commercial lease, and partnership or shareholder disagreements. His comprehensive understanding extends to dealing with dissolutions, winding-up applications, and intricate commercial litigation matters. James's leadership extends beyond the courtroom through his roles at various organisations. He currently chairs the Finance and Risk Sub-committee at the Gateway Baptist Church and holds the position of Council Chair for Carinity, a prominent care organisation in Queensland. Previously, he chaired the Risk and Compliance Sub-committee at Redeemer Lutheran College and contributed to the advisory council of Lutheran Education Queensland. With a tenure at Corney & Lind Lawyers prior to his current role, James honed his skills through progressive positions from Graduate Law Clerk to Senior Associate. Academically, his qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Queensland and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from The College of Law Australia, complemented by a Master of Business in Finance from Victoria University and a Bachelor's in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Melbourne.
