About Petrina
Petrina Cao-Kelly is the Principal of her own practice, Your Will & Estate, based in Cairns, Queensland. With a deep passion for structuring, wills, and estates, she is committed to creating estate plans tailored to her clients' unique circumstances. Her path to law came later in life after raising two children and playing pivotal roles in business administration, finance, and human resource management. Petrina's transition into the legal field was driven by her personal experiences and the significance of having a solid estate plan, which she first recognised following the birth of her child. Petrina's academic journey includes a degree in law and accounting from James Cook University and a Masters of Law (Applied Law) with a double major in Estate Planning and Wills and Estates. Prior to starting her own practice, she spent nearly a decade in large firms, specialising in wills, estates, and commercial law. Her career includes time at Preston Law, where she honed her skills in business and corporate structuring, commercial property transactions, and local government governance. Her expertise extends to handling significant transactions, including a $15.4M adventure tourism operation sale and a $7.5M property disposal in Cairns CBD. Additionally, she has acted for local governments on governance, industrial relations disputes, and strategic assessments. Petrina's prior experience in government management offers strategic insights that enhance her advisory services. Her involvement in community initiatives, such as serving as a board member for YETI, underscores her dedication to youth and community welfare. With a focus on plain-language communication, Petrina prioritises client understanding and strives to maintain a flexible work-life balance to accommodate her caregiving responsibilities.
