Alex Zilkens

Alex Zilkens is the Principal of Zilkens Lawyers, bringing a wealth of experience in commercial legal work and litigation. He earned his combined Arts/Law degree from the University of Sydney in 1986 and has been practising law since his admission in 1987. Under his leadership since 1993, Zilkens Lawyers has served a diverse clientele, including those in hospitality, property development and management, financial services, manufacturing, retail, wholesale/distribution, and mining services. Alex has developed extensive expertise in corporate governance, insolvency, property, contracts, finance, employment, succession planning, litigation, mediation, and dispute resolution. His tenure as chairman of YHA Western Australia from 1996 to 2010, followed by his role as chairman of Hostelling International Australia until 2016, underscores his commitment to high standards of governance, enabling efficient strategic oversight. In 2014, Alex further extended his influence internationally by serving as Vice President of the International Youth Hostel Federation, advocating for governance excellence among 65 international youth hostelling associations. Additionally, his role on the WA Liquor Commission from 2014 to 2021 attests to his dedication to adjudicating liquor licensing and disciplinary matters under the Liquor Control Act 1988.
