Dinesh Weerakkody

Dinesh Weerakkody is a Barrister and Solicitor admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria, holding a Bachelor of Laws from Deakin University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice. With extensive experience across multiple areas of law, Dinesh has developed expertise in property, criminal, family, and immigration law, having established the Migration Law Practice at Oates Rennick Lawyers early in his career. Dinesh is the founder of DLegal and Victory Law, firms that integrate multidisciplinary legal services to provide comprehensive support to clients. He is actively involved in the legal community, serving as President of LawHelp Australia and as a member of the Law Institute of Victoria’s Migration Law Committee. His previous roles include Treasurer of the Eastern Suburbs Law Association of the Law Institute of Victoria. In addition to his legal practice, Dinesh contributes to legal education as an Academic in Law at Deakin University, an adjunct lecturer at The College of Law, and a former Unit Convenor at Swinburne University Law School, where he developed the evidence law curriculum. He is committed to sharing both theoretical knowledge and practical insights with law students. Dinesh also produces the LawHelp television programme on Channel 31, demonstrating his dedication to community legal education. Fluent in Sinhalese, he connects effectively with clients from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, ensuring accessible and personalised legal support.
