Steve Cohen

Dr Steve Cohen is a distinguished Partner at the Family Law team, contributing his expertise to both the Albany and Perth offices. Since 2004, he has devoted his practice to a broad array of family law matters, including children matters, financial disputes, child support, and spousal support applications. Steve is highly regarded for his handling of complex child-related issues and spousal maintenance cases. Recently, his acumen in these areas has been further recognised with his approval as an Independent Children’s Lawyer (ICL). Steve's legal journey includes significant experience at the Mental Health Law Centre, where he worked on intricate child-based issues, providing invaluable advice to some of the community's most vulnerable individuals. His commitment to the legal profession is also evident in his role as an adjunct lecturer at Edith Cowan Law School, where he imparts knowledge in both Public Law and Family Law. Beyond his legal practice, Steve is a passionate literary critic, contributing his insights to the West Australian Lawyers’ Journal, Brief Magazine, and Seesaw Arts Magazine. His academic achievements include a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from The University of Western Australia, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy from Edith Cowan University. With extensive experience at HHG Legal Group, Steve has held the role of Partner for over seven months, building on his six-year tenure as Managing Associate.
