Selvadurai Raveendran, known as Ravi, is the Principal of his practice, with a distinguished legal career beginning in Sri Lanka where he graduated with Honours in Law. Admitted to practice in January 1971, he initially concentrated on commercial law and litigation, representing numerous local multinational companies. In 1980, Ravi attained his qualification as a Solicitor in England, before moving to Australia in 1984. By September 1985, he was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in Melbourne. Ravi started his Australian legal journey with Gregorys Solicitors in Brunswick, quickly advancing to the position of Partner. In 1990, he established his own practice, Ravi James, in Brunswick. His career later included consulting for Wisewoulds Lawyers before he resumed his city-based practice. Throughout his career, Ravi has mentored many students and overseas-qualified lawyers, guiding them towards successful legal careers. While Ravi’s expertise extends to migration law, handling everything from application initiations to tribunal and court reviews, he also manages a significant volume of commercial and property law matters. His ongoing commitment to his clients is evident in the loyalty of those seeking his services in migration matters. As the honorary solicitor for the Hindu Society of Victoria, Ravi is also a respected figure within the Sri Lankan, Indian, Fijian, and broader subcontinent communities.
