Dominic Macken brings over twenty-five years of distinguished experience in the legal field, with a primary focus on employment law. He provides expert guidance to both employers and senior executives on a broad range of issues concerning the employment relationship and its termination. As a seasoned commercial litigator, Dominic has achieved significant success in handling cases related to breach of contract, breach of statutory and fiduciary duties, and actions under Australian consumer law, particularly concerning misleading and deceptive conduct. Dominic's litigation expertise extends across multiple judicial bodies, including the County Court of Victoria, Supreme Court of Victoria, and the Federal Court of Australia, as well as appellate courts. He is well-versed in conducting unfair dismissal and general protections (adverse action) applications within the Fair Work Commission and the Federal Circuit Court of Australia. Furthermore, Dominic is adept in managing industrial law issues in the Fair Work Commission and Federal Court of Australia, advocating for both employers and employees. His clients range from one of Australia's largest trade unions to a variety of smaller and specialised organisations. After being admitted to practice in June 1991, Dominic graduated with honours in Arts (Classics – First Class) and Law from the University of Melbourne. He initially honed his expertise at a major commercial law firm before joining A.J. Macken & Co in October 1993. Beyond his legal practice, Dominic serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tobin Brothers Funerals, a position he has held since 1 November 2017.
