

Suryan Chandrasegaran serves as the Director and Principal Solicitor at Albury Legal, bringing over 25 years of legal experience with a distinct focus on commercial and estate litigation, estate planning, business law, and tax and superannuation advice. Having begun his educational journey in Perth, Suryan pursued a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce at Monash University in Melbourne, followed by a Masters of Taxation from the University of New South Wales. His legal career commenced at the Australian Taxation Office, where he honed his skills in advisings and taxation matters. This grounding led to a position in Perth with a national law firm, focusing on tax and superannuation law. Suryan further expanded his expertise in general law as a Partner at a regional practice in Victoria, a role in which he also managed the firm's litigation department. In 2013, Suryan established Albury Legal, motivated by a desire to offer comprehensive legal services in the Albury region. His dedication to his clients and the community is evidenced by his admission to practice in the Supreme Courts of Victoria and Western Australia, as well as the High Court of Australia. He holds the designation of Fellow at the National Tax and Accountants Association and is a registered tax agent. Beyond his legal commitments, Suryan contributes as Treasurer of the Albury & District Law Society, drawing from his past experiences as Treasurer for the Murray Conservatorium of Music and the Women's Life Centre Inc. At Albury Legal, under his leadership, the team provides general legal work across all areas except family law. Suryan's professional journey, marked by a successful litigation matter in the High Court (Walker v Sell [2017] HCATrans 110), underscores his capability in handling complex legal challenges. Privately, he enjoys spending quality time with his family and indulging in badminton, reflecting a well-rounded and community-focused legal practitioner.
