Keith Harvey, Principal at Ambry Legal, brings over four decades of experience in banking, accounting, and law. Before transitioning to legal practice, Keith held significant roles in retail, business, and corporate banking with Westpac, National Australia Bank, and ANZ, including a stint in merchant banking. This extensive background in finance equips him with a deep understanding of business risks and opportunities, essential for providing robust legal advice. Keith's approach to law is grounded in a comprehensive understanding of business structures and transactions, allowing him to identify and manage client risks effectively. His legal expertise is complemented by Ambry Legal's reliance on advanced IT solutions and intellectual property built over years, enabling flexible and efficient client service. Despite modern remote capabilities, Keith prioritises personal interaction, often visiting client premises to gain valuable insights. At Ambry Legal, Keith oversees work outsourced to practitioners with specialised knowledge beyond the firm's primary focus, ensuring cost-effective and high-quality service. He remains the main point of contact for clients, taking full responsibility for all work undertaken. Holding formal qualifications in economics, finance, accounting, and law, Keith is also a published author of textbooks and journal articles on taxation and business law, with notable achievements such as taking the first GST case to the High Court. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University, a Bachelor of Laws from Deakin University, and a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne. He is admitted to practice in the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Courts of Victoria and New South Wales. Keith maintains active memberships with the Law Institute of Victoria and is a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Victoria. Prior to his legal career, he was a Fellow of CPA Australia, the Financial Services Institute of Australia, and the Chartered Governance Institute. Outside his professional commitments, Keith enjoys beekeeping, travelling, and mentoring both clients and colleagues.
