John Dick is a seasoned legal practitioner with over 35 years of experience, currently serving as the Principal at AustAsean Law in Perth. His extensive career spans across South East Asia, having practiced in Singapore, Vietnam, and several other ASEAN countries. John's expertise lies in advising businesses on foreign investment within the energy, resources, and infrastructure sectors throughout the region. He is well-versed in all aspects of project life cycles, including licensing, investment approvals, financing, and strategic dispute resolution. John has a distinguished track record of establishing and managing legal practices across ASEAN, significantly contributing to the growth of Australian business networks in these markets. He played a pivotal role in founding AusCham Vietnam and served as its inaugural President. His leadership extended to AustCham Singapore, where he presided over significant years, and he remains an influential figure in AustCham ASEAN. Recognised on the International Who’s Who of Mining Lawyers and Best Lawyers lists, John's proficiency in mining transactions, project finance, and infrastructure development is unparalleled. He has been instrumental in some of the largest mining initiatives in Indonesia and has advised on diverse projects including power generation, oil and gas ventures, and infrastructure developments like roads, railways, and port projects. John's previous roles include being a partner at Dentons Rodyk and Herbert Smith Freehills, where he focused on M&A, PPP, and infrastructure in the South East Asian market. He was also a foreign law consultant for Dentons Rodyk post his tenure as a partner. His academic background includes a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Jurisprudence and Laws from the University of Western Australia, complemented by his fellowships with the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
