Karen Chay

Karen Chay is a highly accomplished partner with over 15 years of legal experience, encompassing both private practice and in-house counsel roles. Her career has seen her excel in some of the most prestigious law firms across the Asia Pacific region, as well as within the legal departments of leading Australian and European banks. Karen is adept at balancing intricate legal requirements with business imperatives and practical constraints, particularly within the realms of real estate, banking and finance, and commercial law. With a strong focus on property-related matters, she has successfully managed a wide array of conveyancing cases. Her expertise further extends to advising on legal frameworks and negotiating complex documentation for loan arrangements, collateralisation, investment and brokerage products, and OTC derivative transactions, including ISDAs. Karen's legal proficiency also covers asset securitisation schemes, mergers and acquisitions, business sales and purchases, IPOs, private placements, and joint ventures. Fluent in handling trust reviews and estate planning, she serves a diverse clientele comprising private wealth individuals, SMEs, and global institutions. Karen is admitted to practise as a lawyer in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia, as well as an advocate and solicitor in the Supreme Court of Singapore. She holds an LLB (Hons) from the National University of Singapore and maintains active membership with the Law Institute of Victoria.
