Elizabeth Jameson

Elizabeth Jameson is a distinguished legal professional with a rich career spanning over three decades. In 2002, leveraging nearly 15 years of experience as a corporate and commercial lawyer, including her role as a partner at a prominent Australian law firm, Elizabeth founded Board Matters and its governance-focused legal arm, Board Matters Legal. Over 22 years later, she continues to lead the firm as Founder Consultant, collaborating with a team of esteemed governance, legal, and strategy consultants. Elizabeth's expertise in corporate legal and governance matters is underpinned by her extensive experience as a practising director. She has advised a diverse range of companies across various sectors, encompassing listed entities, private firms, public sector organisations, and not-for-profit boards. Her insight into business acumen and leadership has been consistently recognised through her numerous non-executive roles, including her current positions as Non-Executive Chair of Endeavour Foundation and Non-Executive Director of C&K - The Creche and Kindergarten Association, and the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health. Her leadership extends to esteemed cultural and educational institutions, having served as Chair of Brisbane Girls Grammar School, where she championed the importance of broad-based education, and as a Board Member and Chair of Queensland Theatre. Elizabeth also contributed to enhancing governance practices at RACQ as President and Chair, where she chaired the Audit and Risk Management Committee and contributed to the Governance and Remuneration Committee. Elizabeth's governance and strategic expertise is further demonstrated in her previous roles with organisations such as BDO, the Queensland Music Festival, and the Brisbane Festival. She has also been a key figure at the Australian Institute of Company Directors, facilitating and nurturing future boardroom leaders. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts and an LLB with Honours from The University of Queensland, along with a deep appreciation for languages, reflected in her studies of Japanese. Currently pursuing a PhD, she remains committed to continued professional development and contributing to the academic field.
