John Hawker

John Hawker is the principal of Brands Hawker, an esteemed Intellectual Property firm, and brings nearly thirty years of experience in I.P. law both in Australia and internationally. His career commenced at Davies Collison Cave, known for its excellence in Patent and Trade Mark law, where he honed his expertise under the mentorship of prominent trade mark practitioner Trevor Stevens. John expanded his horizons by serving as Corporate Counsel for Sara Lee Corporation, where he managed legal responsibilities across the Australian/Pacific and East Asia regions from Melbourne. He later transitioned to England, extending his oversight to the African and UK regions. Upon returning to Australia, John joined Griffith Hack, becoming a partner in the trade marks group and co-founding what became known as Griffith Hack Lawyers. Demonstrating versatility, John explored talents beyond the legal field and became actively involved in technology start-ups, achieving considerable success and retaining directorships in two companies. His global exposure continued with a significant role at Marks & Clerk in Hong Kong, prompted by his wife's career relocation to Asia.
