Brigitte Simeonides has extensive experience in matters before the Guardianship Division of the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT). Her work includes applications for Guardianship Orders and Financial Management Orders, as well as handling reviews of these orders and Enduring Powers of Attorney. When required, she also represents clients in related proceedings in the Supreme Court. Brigitte is committed to supporting clients concerned about the welfare of ageing or disabled family members who may be subject to financial abuse, coercion, or other forms of mistreatment. These often sensitive matters frequently involve close relatives, such as siblings, and can be complex to resolve. She assists clients in understanding and navigating the legal framework surrounding Guardianship and Financial Management Orders to ensure the protection and support of vulnerable individuals. In addition to guardianship issues, Brigitte manages Family Provision claims where adult children or other family members seek to contest a Will. These claims often arise when a person believes they have been excluded or inadequately provided for under a deceased estate. She also advises on challenges to the validity of Wills, particularly where there are concerns about the testator’s mental capacity at the time the Will was made, commonly due to conditions such as advanced dementia. Through her work, Brigitte provides compassionate, clear guidance to clients facing emotional and complex family disputes.
