With her career beginning in Sri Lanka, Priya was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka in 1996. Her academic accomplishments include a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, after which she was admitted as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland in 2010 and later registered to practise in the High Court of Australia in 2015.
