

Arthur Carney is a distinguished partner leading the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution team. With a robust career spanning several decades, Arthur has honed his skills in the New South Wales Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, Federal Court, and High Court. His legal journey commenced with his admission to practice in 1977, followed by a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 1984. Recognised by the Law Society of New South Wales as an Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation since 1995, Arthur also chairs the Law Society Specialisation Accreditation Commercial Litigation Committee. His practice covers a breadth of areas including contractual disputes, directors and officers duties and liabilities, corporate recovery and insolvency, property disputes, trade practices, class actions, and insurance litigation. Arthur is also adept in dealing with Wills and Succession Act disputes and plays a pivotal role in mediation. His expertise extends to his appointment as a District Court Arbitrator in 1998, and his selection for the Supreme Court of NSW panel overseeing Anton Piller Search Orders in 2008. Arthur's commitment to professional ethics was further evidenced by his decade-long service on the Law Society of NSW Professional Conduct Committee.
