Adrian Cartland

Adrian Cartland, known affectionately as the Taxinator, is the Principal and Solicitor of Cartland Law. His journey into law was somewhat unconventional, having harboured childhood dreams of becoming a Transformer like his hero Optimus Prime. Despite a family background steeped in engineering, Adrian chose a different path, pursuing commercial law at university and achieving commendable grades. His interest in tax law was sparked during his leisure time, leading him to embrace this complex field enthusiastically. Adrian gained extensive experience working in various tax law roles across top-tier and boutique firms for a decade before establishing his own practice. At Cartland Law, Adrian offers exceptional expertise in tax, trusts, and technology, reflecting his passion for these areas. One of his notable achievements is the creation of Ailira, the Artificially Intelligent Legal Information Research Assistant, showcasing his forward-thinking approach and interest in legal AI. He serves as the Chair of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners SA and the Chair of The Tax Institute's State Taxes Committee. Adrian holds the title of Australia's funniest lawyer (2007) and astonishingly, the record for the fastest MMA knockout in the country. These unique accomplishments highlight his diverse talents and vibrant personality. Throughout his career, Adrian has consistently provided specialised tax and commercial advice, managed tax litigation, and developed tax-efficient documentation. His dedication to the field is evident in his innovative contributions to legal practice and education. His academic foundation is a testament to his commitment, holding an LLB with Honours and a BEc from the University of Adelaide.
