David Schwarz

David Schwarz is a highly regarded Brisbane-based lawyer with extensive experience in commercial litigation, insolvency, and broader commercial matters. He began his legal career in 1998 and joined Cowen Schwarz Marschke (formerly Tucker & Cowen) in 1999. David became a Partner of the firm in 2007. David has a comprehensive background in commercial litigation, appearing in both State and Federal Courts. His litigation work includes shareholder and partnership disputes, finance and contract-related matters, trust disputes, and tax litigation. He advises a diverse range of clients, from public companies to small and medium enterprises. In the field of insolvency, David acts for many of Brisbane’s prominent insolvency practitioners and provides guidance to individuals and company directors facing financial difficulties. He regularly conducts recovery claims on behalf of liquidators and trustees, handles breaches of directors’ duties, and offers advice on issues arising from insolvency administrations. David has also shared his expertise by presenting at seminars for the Queensland legal profession on insolvency topics. Alongside litigation and insolvency work, David deals with corporate matters including corporate structuring, business sales, and trusts. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws, and is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. He is an active member of the Queensland Law Society and maintains a strong commitment to community service, demonstrated through his life membership and past presidency of the Motor Neurone Disease Association of Queensland.
