About Andrew

Andrew George is a renowned criminal defence lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, admitted to practice in 1989 and holding accreditation as a criminal law specialist since 1995. As a director at Doogue + George, he leads the white-collar and financial crimes section, bringing an exceptional blend of strategic insight and advocacy skills to each case. Andrew regularly appears in all Victorian criminal courts, as well as tribunals and Royal Commissions, ensuring his clients a respected voice in the legal system. His early career began in criminal law with Slater & Gordon, followed by extensive practice in Melbourne's western suburbs and the CBD. As a partner at Doogue + George, he manages the Sunshine office while maintaining an active case load in the CBD. A former Chair of the Buoyancy Drug Foundation, Andrew has served over a decade on the Public Interest Clearing House management committee, now Justice Connect. His international work includes aiding in the establishment of Papua New Guinea's first community legal service, along with active roles in Monash University's Clinical Program Advisory Committee and international bar associations. Andrew's expertise extends to complex cases such as IBAC's Operation Fitzroy, which led him to author an ebook on navigating IBAC investigations. His international criminal law practice involves representing clients with interests across China, Vietnam, and beyond, offering insights from global conferences. His involvement with investigative entities positions him uniquely to counsel those engaging with bodies like the proposed National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC). Andrew’s accolades include being ranked as a Leading Criminal Defence Lawyer in Victoria and a Recommended Criminal Defence Lawyer in Australia by Doyle’s Guide. He works from both our Melbourne and Sydney offices, dedicated to securing the best outcomes for his clients' futures.
