David Shaw, Principal at Gandhi and Shaw, brings over 30 years of extensive experience in corporate and commercial law. With a solid background as a barrister in London and later as a barrister and solicitor in Australia, David offers clients expert advice on complex disputes and regulatory inquiries. Since moving to Australia in 1987, he has represented clients in litigation, arbitrations, and regulatory investigations. His practice includes working with various sectors such as resources, construction, real estate, insolvency, and technology, representing both Australian and international companies, high net worth individuals, and liquidators.
David has appeared in numerous courts including the High Court of Australia, Federal Court of Australia, State Supreme Courts across Western Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, as well as tribunals and arbitrations. His notable case work includes acting for liquidators in complex proceedings related to the Great Southern group of companies. Significant cases he has worked on include Alem Group Pty Ltd v Sanur Pty Ltd [2016] and Australian Maritime Systems Ltd v McConnell Dowell Constructors (Aust) Pty Ltd [2016].
David's legal journey began with an LLB (Hons) from Kingston University, followed by his call to the Bar at Gray's Inn, London in 1983.
