Merlyn Taouk is a partner and the leader of the Front End Construction and Property Development, as well as the Banking and Finance teams. With a strong emphasis on contract drafting, advice, and negotiation, her expertise encompasses construction and property matters alongside banking and finance transactions. Merlyn is well-versed in construction contracts, contract administration, and sale contracts for multi-unit developments, as well as commercial and retail leasing. Her proficiency extends to drafting and providing advice on contracts and subcontracts for developers, builders, and subcontractors, with notable experience in handling sale contracts for high-profile Sydney developments. Renowned for her skills in contract negotiation, Merlyn's approach prioritises understanding clients' goals and risk appetites to achieve optimal outcomes. Having commenced her tenure at Gavel & Page Lawyers in October 2011, Merlyn has substantially contributed to the firm’s growth with her specialised legal acumen. Prior to this, she honed her skills at Salim Rutherford Lawyers. Merlyn holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Macquarie University, complemented by a Bachelor of Social Sciences. Her academic background is further supported by her admission as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
