The young man had leaned over the tracks and didn’t realise the train was coming from the opposite direction. Gerard secured a $10 million settlement after years of battling complex legal issues, a major win at the time. The case also led to a safety change: yellow lines were introduced at railway stations to warn passengers to stay behind. The relief for his client and the satisfaction of triggering such an important safety change left Gerard with a deep sense of pride and further fuelled his passion for justice.
With almost 40 years in the legal field, Gerard has become an expert in personal injury and negligence law. He has been an Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury since 1993, and his commitment to the profession is reflected in his role as a founding member of the Australian Lawyers Association. Gerard is also a member of the American Association for Justice and has been admitted to both the High Court of Australia and the Supreme Court of NSW.
